a wave from a long way away

seattle, 2008

we bought a car, and then we packed it up and drove almost 4000 miles across the world. all because i wanted a change of scenery and a bit of snow for the holidays. and now seattle, my love, is blanketed in that snowy fleece of my dreams, and it's 60 degrees in providence. shit.

my love to those who are now battling the hellish un-plowed streets. but here's a recipe that might just warm the cockles of your heart. that's right, i said it.

The Hot Rum Cow
compliments of Sloshed!

3/4 cup hot milk
2 tablespoons rum
1 teaspoon sugar
2 dashes vanilla
dash Angostura bitters

*heat the milk in a small saucepan and add the rum, sugar, vanilla and bitters. stir to incorporate and pour into a warmed mug. garnish with a healthy grating of fresh nutmeg

holy hell that sounds good.

Yup, it's been a hellish day in the PNW, after spending the night at TOTC. The wind howling like Koda, (or Chester?), in a deep cold Siberian storm, your mother softly snoring like a drunken sailor, she on the floor and my old bones scrunched up accordion style on the couch. And our 2 clients asleep in their SUV. Inside the shop. It was definitely a Kelsey kinda storm. Of course there was a lot of snickering and giggling due to fatigue. It sure as beat sitting on a runway in a storm.

Miss ya in chilly Seattle, but not to worry Babe, you're day will come. heh, heh, heh.
